The Tayloe Paper Doors

Earlier this week I was invited back to The Lofts to photograph some more of its beautiful features. As well as home to the Hardware Carts, these ‘Tayloe Paper Doors’ reside here at The Lofts, salvaged from the former Tayloe Paper Co. building. The conversion of The Tayloe Paper Co. into urban lofts was the first of many projects in the area, now known as The Historic South Main Arts District by The Henry Turley Company. These doors are impressive in person, measuring 4 – feet by 10 – feet by 2 1/2 – inches thick of solid wood and cast iron hinges.  There is something incredibly satisfying to the soul (and to the eye!) when the old and the contemporary come together.

I’m currently putting together a body of work from this collection; framed prints, gallery wraps and metal plates, ready to show next month. The vision I have is to compliment the way in which this former reclaimed hardware and saddlery warehouse was considerately converted. More on this soon. Special thanks to The Henry Turley Company!
